Privacy Policy
Effective August 4, 2026
Crysta ("Crysta", "we", "us") helps people build one focused, genuine connection at a time through LinkedIn-verified profiles. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and the choices you have.
Information We Collect
- LinkedIn account information. When you sign in with LinkedIn, we receive your name, profile photo, professional headline, and LinkedIn member ID from LinkedIn, which we use to verify your identity and set up your Crysta profile.
- Profile and preference information. Details you add yourself — such as photos, a bio, and who you're hoping to connect with.
- Photos and media. Profile photos and other media you upload, stored in our cloud storage so they can be shown on your profile.
- Messages. The content of conversations you have with people you connect with on Crysta, stored so your conversation persists across sessions.
- Device and notification data. A device token used to deliver push notifications (for example, when you receive a new message).
- Usage and log data. Standard technical information such as IP address, device and browser type, app version, and timestamps, collected automatically to keep Crysta secure and reliable.
How We Use Your Information
- Verify your identity via LinkedIn and keep profiles genuine.
- Operate Crysta's core features, including one-at-a-time conversations.
- Deliver, store, and display messages between you and people you connect with.
- Send notifications about new messages or account activity.
- Maintain, secure, and improve the app.
- Comply with legal obligations and enforce our terms.
How We Share Your Information
We do not sell your personal information. We share information only:
- With service providers who process data on our behalf under contract — LinkedIn (authentication), Google Firebase (push notifications), and Amazon Web Services (hosting, storage, and database infrastructure).
- With other members — your profile information and photos are visible to the person you're currently connected with, since that's core to how Crysta works.
- When required by law, or to protect the rights, safety, or property of Crysta, our users, or the public.
Data Storage and Security
Your data is stored on AWS infrastructure and encrypted in transit. Access is restricted to what's needed to operate the service. No system is completely secure; if you have a security concern, please contact us using the details below.
Data Retention
We retain your information for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we delete or anonymize your data within a reasonable period, except where we're required to keep it longer by law.
Your Rights and Choices
- Access and update your profile information directly in the app.
- Request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us.
- Disconnect your LinkedIn account (note: this may require re-verification to continue using Crysta).
- Turn off push notifications from your device settings at any time.
Children's Privacy
Crysta is intended for users who are 18 or older and is not directed at children. If we learn we've collected information from someone under 18, we'll delete it.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we'll post the updated version here with a new effective date.
